UWM professors among the best scientists in the world

The prestigious top 2% of the world’s scientists now includes eight researchers from the University of Warmia and Mazury in their respective disciplines.

Stanford University in the USA has compiled the TOP 2% ranking, a list of the best scientists in the world. The list comprises almost 160,000 researchers from all over the world, with scientists divided into 22 scientific fields and 176 disciplines. The ranking includes 726 researchers from Poland.

This prestigious list also features eight scientists from the University of Warmia and Mazury. These are:

Prof. Andrzej Siwicki - the Head of the Department of Microbiology and Clinical Immunology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine,

Prof. Krzysztof Selmaj - the Head of the Department of Neurology,

Prof. Anna Nowak-Węgrzyn from the Department of Clinical Paediatrics,

Prof. Andrzej Grzybowski – the Head of the Department of Ophthalmology - all from the Faculty of Medicine,

Prof. Lech Polkowski - the Head of the Department of Mathematical Methods of Computer Science at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science

Prof. Dorota Kulikowska, Prof. Agnieszka Cydzik-Kwiatkowska – both from the Department of Biotechnology in Environmental Protection at the Faculty of Geoengineering

Prof. Magdalena Zielińska from the Department of System Engineering at the Faculty of Technical Sciences

The TOP 2% ranking is based on the scientific achievements of individual researchers according to the bibliometric index. The evaluation criteria include the h-index, the number of citations, the impact factor and the place and role on the authors’ list.
