Two universities – one diploma

The University of Warmia and Mazury, and the University of Applied Sciences in Offenburg will soon broaden their cooperation through offering another branch of joint studies.

Professor Ryszard Górecki, the Rector of UWM, and Professor Winfried Lieber, the Rector of the University of Applied Sciences in Offenburg have signed Annex 1.10 to the Agreement concerning the establishment of another branch of joint studies – Food Engineering, which is due to start in 2016. The programme will involve ten students of Offenburg University, as well as ten UWM students. They will spend one semester in Olsztyn, and the other one in Offenburg. As for the third semester, the  students will have the right to decide on where to write and defend their theses, according to their preferences. The graduates will obtain a joint diploma of both Universities.

UWM and the University of Applied Sciences in Offenburg have been cooperating for many years. The Universities propose 3-semester Master academic joint studies of Environmental Protection, with a specialization in biotechnology and environmental protection. Joint education programme was launched in 2009. So far, as many as 68 students from Offenburg, and 48 of UWM students have taken advantage of the opportunity and graduated within the discussed project. The two Universities are planning to extend their offer with another branch of joint studies – renewable energy sources.
